Students book their own flights based on arrival and departure dates provided in the fall GEOC 108 course. Be sure to check flight times, layovers, change fees, and baggage rules before purchasing. Instructors can help if needed.
Upon arrival, Mason GEOC staff or local partners will meet students at the airport and help them settle in. The first week includes a mandatory on-site orientation covering transportation and local logistics. Students cover their own in-country travel costs; estimates and tips are discussed in GEOC 108.
Students may travel on weekends or breaks but must log all trips in the Mason Portal so the Global Health and Safety team can reach them in emergencies. Travel safety is reviewed during Pre-Departure Orientation.
AA valid passport (at least six months beyond program end) is required. Digital copies will be collected early in the fall semester. Students needing financial help for their first passport may apply for the GEO Passport Grant from the Global Education Office.
