Led by select faculty, Mason-led programs include winter break, spring break, or summer programs ranging from 2 to 6 weeks and for 3 to 6 credits. Each program is customized by a program administrator, led by a Mason faculty acadamic director and often subject to change regarding course offering and location details. Mason led semester programs offer 12 to 15 resident credits per semester, as students take courses taught in English or the host country’s language.
Faculty are encouraged to propose programs, even if they do not have previous experience leading a study abroad program. Resources, including workshops, are offered by the Global Education Office (GEO) to assist future Academic Directors with program development.
