FAQ Global Pathway

Global Pathway is a program for incoming freshmen. Students spend the first semester of their freshman year at Mason and their second semester abroad.

Costs are the same as one semester at Mason. Students pay regular in-state or out-of-state tuition. See Finances and Scholarship for details.

No, but it doesn't hurt. All of our courses on the pathway program are taught in English and the course reading materials are also in English. Placement tests will be given by both Mason and the on-site host institution.

Students are selected based on their comprehensive admissions application to George Mason University including their academic record and indicated major.

In some cases, you may change locations depending on space availability. Changes must be made in writing to Global Pathway and you will need to provide reason(s) for the desired change. Not all Pathway Locations are compatible with all academic needs. The Global Pathway Team will work with you for the best suited location.

Those selected receive an invitation in the Mason Admissions Portal. Apply following the instructions in the portal.

The priority deadline is June 15, but students are encouraged to apply throughout the summer.

It depends on your location. GEO has identified these locations because of a wide variety of courses in English that will satisfy Mason core requirements.

Students who are studying abroad will be released from spring housing contracts. GEO works with George Mason Housing to ensure a smooth process.
